All,
We've been reviewing this thread (and others) and listening to what people are wanting to do with the E1-510. Yesterday we released version 2.11 of our standard WinFlash package as well as a version with a simple shell interface. This will allow you to select the Legacy mode in the BIOS.
You can find the Patch_Acer_BIOS_2.11_Shell.zip on our Patch section as we don't normally create an update to the BIOS without using WinFlash. We did not want to include it in our BIOS section and create issues for users that have Windows 8 installed.
Finally, here's a direct link if it helps

Can you please forward instructions on the proper, manufacturer-approved steps to take to apply the flash?
Thanks,

So, Acer has now posted an official updated flash for the Win7 USB boot issues - GREAT! Step 1 complete! I now have Win7 installed - but lack the majority of drivers. Hey Acer, can we get Step 2 (official Win7 Drivers out on your site) so we can all be very happy Acer customers and not have to ponder returning the laptop?
If anyone knows where to get the drivers, please share with me.
Thanks

Thanks in advance... ![]()

If I had an e1-510 (which I don't), I might be tempted to click the hardware detection button to see what drivers are recommended. Then I might look at similar models that might have comparable drivers for the OS of choice. Then I might download and try to install them and see if they work on my e1-510 to my satisfaction. Yup, that's what I might do right now if I had an e1-510. 8^)

Well... If you had an E1-510, you would notice that Windows 7 installs a compatible 'standard' VGA driver which, for the most part works - for resolution and basic functionality. So any auto-detect or auto-update states that windows believes the most current driver is installed. I have already pulled Intel drivers off of Intel's site as well as from my own driver DB - most of which were for Windows 7. Yet when I install on this Windows 7, I get a 'software incompatible with the OS' message - which is extremely odd. So it's not as if I installed Windows 7 and then screamed for help. Been trying different things for this driver the past 2 days. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Hi
The steps given by baidrk earlier in this thread for installing Win7 works like a charm - I now have Win7 Ultimate installed on the e1-510. The bios upgrade takes less than 2 mins, and after that just select the "legacy os" option and you are good to go. I think I might run into some issues while trying to install the drivers from the included cd because they are meant for Win8, so any info on that would be helpful. Thanks to ajay_1988 and Sejjad for sharing the bios utility link, but i already got the utility from a different source.
A NOTE TO ACER - I haven't put this laptop to extensive use as yet, but my first impression is that this is probably a VFM product considering the specs and the price. I also see some negative reviews and bad ratings starting to come across from customers in different online stores, and the crux of the problem is not having legacy os/ win7 support.
Thanks and Regards.
