Are both the hard drive and the SSD still in the computer? If so, take the hard drive out and try using the recovery USB drive with only the SSD installed.

There's a video which includes HDD removal here. It seems to just be removing two screws and popping it out.
Personally, I've kept the extra SATA L-connector out for now. If I need it for the laptop, I'll be opening the laptop anyway. If I need it for something else (or the laptop is lost/stolen), then it's here and ready. Besides, it's one less gram to carry. ![]()

Hi,
I just bought my Acer R7-572-6637 in Canada, I want to know if the mSata port is Sata 3 also ? As I would much eatehr prefer to keep my HDD and add an mSata SSD and have my OS on it. But if it is sata 2 then I will rather go replace HDD with SSD.
Can anyone who has added the mSata can please check if it is Sata 3 and confirm before i go that way.
Thanks a lot ![]()

Yes, both of the drives are SATA-3.

any disadvantage using Msata instead of HDD sata ?

I bought the same machine and looking for that upgrade too. The desadvantages of the msata that I can see seems to be their limited availability from differents manufacturers. Less performant and more expensive per GB then a regular high end ssd. Will had to the laptop power consumtion a bit. Still I will probably go that way too when I find a good performing msata. Buy a 60 GB msata for the OS and leave the 750GB for "dead" data.
