Acer Aspire R7-572-6423 no sound with HDMI

Hello,

I am running Windows 8.1 64 bit on the R7.  I have the laptop connected to a receiver and the receiver connected to a TV.  I am able to see my desktop on the TV but I do not have any sound through the receiver.  When I look at the playback devices I see

Digital Audio (HDMI)

High Definition Audio Device

Not Plugged In

I know it is plugged in since I am seeing my screen on my TV.

Can this laptop send audio over the HDMI connection?

Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this!

    Thanks for the quick reply!

I could not select it as default (it was grayed out).

I actually saw some other posts about updating to the latest Intel 4400 drivers so I just tried that.

I installed the 15.33.18.64.3496 version file named win64_153318 off of Intel's website and that seemed to do the trick!

If I go into device manager under display adapters I have an Intel(R) HD Graphics Family entry that tells me the Driver date is 3/11/2014 and version is 10.18.10.3496.

Anyway, I am able to set it as the default device now and verified playback through my receiver (and the other zones connected to it) which was exactly what I wanted, so I am all set.

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

Are you able to select HDMI device as " default " under sound properties?

    8.  Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".

    9.  Click "Have Disk..." and click "Browse".

    10. Browse to the directory where you unzipped the file you
downloaded, click the "Graphics" folder, and select the
        "igdlh64.INF" file. Click "Open".
