Jack,
The erecovery sounds like it might take some time in resetting up my computer. For varous reasons I can't "stand down" immediately but I will get back to you in a couple of weeks and update you of the situation.
Again, for now, thanks for your patience.

John

Hi again John:
I've reviewed our previous messages. I don't think you've mentioned that you've tried to toggle the speaker on and off with the Fn+F8 key combination. Have you tried this? I may have missed it.

Jack,
Just tried it. It was unmuted and changed to muted and then on repeated came back to unmuted.

John:
Take a look a device manager again. What errors, if any, does it show now?

Jack.
See image below. In the bottom half there is a message which included a path to a file. There is no "AppData" folder at the location and so this file does not exist. Also some of the errors refer to Error Code:0x80070005

Jack.
Not fully understanding this I think that the image might be misleading. I think that it;s the error log for the computer, not specifically the sound system.
There are no events listed in the Realtek specific events listing

Hi John:
Go to control panel. Then search for 'device manager'. Does 'device manager' report any new errors for the various devices on your system?
