Acer Aspire 5745PG, I Need XP Drivers, How & Where to get them?

Hello,

I recently had to install my XP OS on my Acer Aspire 5745PG so I can use some of my older software for PLC control without having to pay mega bucks for newer versions of the software.

My problem now is that I cannot find any Windows XP Drivers.

When I go here:

http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers

and enter the model all I get to download are Windows 7 x64-bit Drivers.

There is nothing much in the way of specifics as to what the device models are in the laptop so I can`t find drivers for what I don`t know.  Eg: for the LAN Driver, all it says is LAN Atheros but no specific model and for Wireless LAN its either Atheros or Broadcom and for VGA there are 3 listed but all for Win7x64 my laptop has the Nvidia 330M video card and the Audio Card is listed as a Realtek but which models are all of these?

Need help to get Windows XP Drivers for My Acer Aspire 5745PG

I did a little bit of searching around after trying the drivers that came with the driver pack and finding that they didn't work.  It appears, the newer versions of the drivers don't work for the LAN and WLAN.  I did get these 2 drivers finally working correctly.

The LAN Driver I installed that seems to work well with XP is l1c51 v1.0.0.33-whql.

The best WLAN Driver that seems to work well with XP is xp3264 v9.2.0.104-whql v10 of these drivers don't work.

Thank for all who tried to help.

right click on my computer  icon and choose Properties, click on hardware tab, click on device manager.

Where you see the Yellow exclamation mark, double click it, choose "Details" tab, from the dropdown menu choose "HardwareIDs", click the first string and copy/paste here.

Thanks for the reply.  However, some of the drivers given appear to be a mismatch for my 5745PG.  After doing a little bit of a search, I found this site:

    http://drp.su/drivers/notebooks/?v=Acer&l=en

Which offers driver packs for a whole wack of different models of laptops.  The Driver pack is a huge 10Gb and is virus free and to also allow you to choose to install some additional product software if you so choose.

After downloading any of the individual files you will see that all the drivers are located within an .exe file.

These .exe files are seen as a virus through Norton Internet Security but this could be a false positive.  It is best to use 7-zip and first right-click and choose to open archive.

Once its open, you can actually remove/copy/extract the actual driver that is located within the drp folder of each .exe file.

I tried to install and update all the drivers to newer versions.  But I still have 1 Major Problem... No Ethernet Connection.

The LAN Driver keeps getting a yellow warning attached to it.  I still need proper drivers for the:

Qualcomm Atheros AR8151 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller.

LAN Drivers I've tried so far are:

    - Atheros-Lan-2.1.0.21(www.station-drivers.com).exe and

    - xp-l1c-2.1.0.1 available from the site above

The driver version installed however is version 2.1.0.2 which could possibly be the driver from the driver pack which I installed first, but then found out that the driver does not work.  I can't RollBack the Driver because it was the first driver installed. Nor can I Uninstall it. It\s either newer than the other drivers or maybe its being cached somewhere or perhaps something else and thats what  keeps it comming back.

So how do I get rid of the driver to stop it from comming back even though the driver does not work?

One more thing I found is that it only gets the Yellow NOT WORING sticky attached to it once I plug the network cable into the socket to make a connection. It's not the cable because I previously I made a dual boot xp then win7 and then used windows 7 to map some drives and connect to the internet to look for drivers.

Now I won't do a dual boot until I can get all the drivers to work correctly under XP. especially the LAN drivers.

Still some testing to do maybe a format and then try your LAN and WLAN Drivers again, I'm not sure but I think they worked but the video card did not.

Slim Drivers from slimwareutilities works well on XP to find and install drivers reliably.  Just be careful not to install the crapware along with slimdrivers.
