810tz-4011 the display shows the bios screen fully illuminated it then goes dark upon windows launch.

Looks like the backlight is burned out since you can see a non illuminated desktop on the screen.

Connect an external monitor and the rest of the laptop works fine.

I cannot find any information about an inverter for this display anywhere.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I'm not going to be able to tell you specifically which panel is installed on your specific unit, but I would be happy to provide some panel assembly part numbers for you.

So you're saying that the BIOS screen displays fine, but when it goes to Windows is the only time it has an issue?

That would be a Windows driver issue.

Does it work in Safe Mode?

Have you attempted to boot from some other bootable media?  optical disc or USB

Yes I tried booting into ERD and a Linux boot disk with the same results.

After 2 minutes or so the screen goes dark.

I say goes dark since you can still see the desktop very faintly just not illuminated.

On an older display I would say it’s the inverter but I don’t believe this screen has one.

Does anyone know what illuminates the display (LED?) and is it replaceable?

Unfortunately, if it's reproducable at that level, it's definately going to be in the panel assembly.

810TZ isn't a complete model name ... or I'd see if I could look up what parts you may need.

part number or serial number would help
