Acer Aspire AT3-715A Motherboard DB.B1411.001 - Where are the M.2 slots?

Title says most of it.

Futhermore, what kind of M.2 ports are they? There seems to be a dirth of manuals online for this motherboard. I assumed I could get the M.2 NVMe Samsung but that doesn't seem to fit anywhere, though a eSATA doesn't look like it would either.

What kind of SSD can I put in this device/do I need to return the one I have?IMG_0743.JPGIMG_0737.JPGIMG_0736.JPGIMG_0735.JPGIMG_0739.JPGIMG_0738.JPGIMG_0740.JPGIMG_0742.JPGIMG_0741.JPG

Thanks,

Greg

I'm pretty sure it only supports a M.2 SSD with a SATA interface like example in link below (but I could be wrong).

Edit:  The other M.2 slot is already occupied with a M.2 type wifi card----probably similiar to this.

So I'm trying to take the RX 480 out to get to the mystery M.2 slot to see what will actually fit in it, but the motherboard is so crowded that I cannot unhook the redundant latch that you guys put on there. Is it just behind the gold thing in this picture? I can feel a latch right there when i go from the other side, but when I push it, nothing happens. I know the lock is there, on that side, because the card will come out easily on the "back" side where the HDMI/DP ports are located. I can't even really push it any harder without using tools. I'm honestly considering taking it back and exchanging it for a better model that already has the SSD installed. IMG_0744.JPG

Not sure.  I don't work for Acer.  I'm just a computer user like you.  I don't own your model.   You can start a new topic:  How do I remove graphics card from T3-715A?

Ah, gotcha. Well, I did figure out how to remove the card like right after I posted that. And the NVMe card does fit into the M.2 port; however, I'm concerned that if it only supports the older hardware (SATA?) with the six pins on the left that the drive won't boot. That wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be a disaster if I boot the machine and it fries the drive because then I can't exchange it for the one I actually need. However, given that they could have put the single pin slot on the other side, i.e. six pins from the left, I would think that's what they would've gone with if the port would only accept the SATA M.2 drives. Thoughts?

I'm about 95 percent sure that your computer doesn't support NVMe M.2.

It uses M.2 SSDs like in the links below.

So the disk is loaded and disk management recognizes it as an unpartitioned drive with ~250 GB of storage; Samsung Magician software recognizes it and says there is no reported compatibility issue.

It's too late to try and partition and reinstall on it for me. Any tips on how to do this? I was hoping their software would be of some use, but it does not look that way.

    Thanks for all your help!

    1. Create Windows 10 media using the tool.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

or create an Acer recovery media USB

    2.  After you create the USB installation media, turn off your computer and disconnect your existing hard drive's power cable.  (very important).

    3.  Make sure your USB installation media is inserted in USB port.  Turn on computer and install Windows 10.  Select custom installation.  Click on your new SSD (it should say unallocated space).  Click next and the Windows installer will automatically partition and format your new SSD....and install windows.  Or if you're using the Acer recovery media....just reset your PC with the USB recovery drive.

    4. After you get Windows installed on your new SSD and you confirm it's working properly, you can shut down your computer and reconnect your hard drive's power cable.

    Did you get it working?

I didn't want to mess with it during the week after work. I'm making the reinstall files on a USB drive now with the Microsoft tool. Thanks for all your help!

So I unplugged the normal HDD and installed Windows on the SSD from the USB drive with the Microsoft tool. When I plug the HDD back in, how does that affect the system? That drive still has Windows installed on it, for example. Will the BIOS keep using the SSD for Windows boot? Anything else I need to know about?

May I ask did this finally work out? I have some problem with my Western Digital NVMe SSD SN750. I have a Acer Aspire AT3-715A-UR11 desktop and it seems the machine cannot recognize this it after I installed it. The SSD is not showing up neither in BIOS nor Disk Mangement in Windows. Did you do anything else after SSD installation to make disk management recognize it? Thanks.
