    1920x1080 @144Hz HDMI supported

i can't find any reference about freesync over HDMI support, but HDMI 2.0 claim to have Freesync support.

AMD is advertising FreeSync over HDMI..

    link: http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/freesync

as i own R9 380 from Gigabyte, freesync is disabled when connected with HDMI (Crimson 16.12.2 and 17.1.1)

I've enable it with CRU (Custom resolution Utility), but then screen goes black.

and max refresh rate in monitor tab (windows 10) is 120Hz with HDMI connection.

When i use DP cable, everything is OK.

i suggest you to contact Acer support service, since the supported resolution and frequency are official infos but maybe some particular models doesn't have it.

xz271 can have only HDMI, HDMI+DPI, DPI only, MHL and other combination

60hz to HDMI indiferent of version of it.Tried with stardard hdmi 2.0 and 2.1 MHL results are the same.
I've tried with cable DELOCK 85729 version 2.1 hdmi and i have only 60hz.
I didn't tried with diferent video card but with nvidia 560 ti not working more than 60hz.
But i think this monitor don't gave you 144hz to hdmi only to DP.
    Sadly.
