K272HUL turn off without notifying Windows

I have a new Acer K272HUL connected to my PC via DisplayPort, and another really old BenQ monitor connected to the same PC via HDMI. Windows 8 is setup for dual monitor.

When I turn off my Acer monitor, Windows thinks I unplugged the monitor, and then it defaults to the BenQ, which is annoying because it changes my audio source and destroys my window arrangement and my neat desktop icon arrangement

I have tried two different ways of making a "sleep monitor" command, but both failed to work right, NirCmd will simply lock me out of Windows, showing my login screen, and using scrnsave.scr will turn the screen black but my mouse cursor is still visible and thus the panel definitely still on.

I can't just tell Windows to sleep because I need remote access into my computer during the day (edit: I just tried, using Chrome Remote Desktop, doing anything actually wakes up the monitors even if they are sleeping, hence why I want to physically power them off)

How can I "sleep" my Acer monitor instead of turning it off?

Thanks

I tried both DP 1.2 and 1.1, I can't try HDMI because I only have one HDMI and the BenQ must use HDMI. I cannot use DVI or VGA due to physical limitations

    frank26080115,

Have you thought about adjusting the position of the monitors in the display settings? If you are always using one monitor and not the other, switch their positions in the display settings and see if that works for you. From what I can tell there is something called monitor auto-detection built into the operating system. I have not found any way to alter this setting, you might have to search through Microsoft to see if there is a way.

I have a non-ideal solution at the moment. I installed UltraMon, and created several multimonitor profiles. One of the profiles will only enable my BenQ and not the Acer. The Acer will sleep instantly when that profile is used.
