What brand and size SD card are you using? Can you see the SD card listed as an accessible drive in file Explorer? Jack E/NJ

Yes, I understand that you can access the sd card from your camera. But when you plug the sd card into the computer, can you actually see the sd card from ***WINDOWS FILE EXPLORER***? Jack E/NJ

Yes, when i put my Lexar SD card or any other one in my laptop, i can see all my pictures, but i am unable to transfer them on the laptop. I don't understand why??? I was able to do it a few weeks ago without problem but not now.

Good. You can simply select the pictures you want to transfer. Then copy them. Then paste them in whatever directory you usually put your pictures on the computer. Alternatively, you can select them and then drag them to your desktop or whatever directory you usually put your pictures. There are other ways to do this depending on which image handling programs you installed. Did you do this differently before? Jack E/NJ

Hi, no i was always select all the pictures to transfer to my laptop then drag them to the new file i had opened. It does not work anymore that way. I do not want to make arestore of my computer to put it the way it was when it came out from the Acer factory. I don't want to loose all my pictures and music i have on the computer.

No need to restore. Sounds like a simple setting. Let's try this first to make sure the picture files haven't been set in some weird way. Select those you want to transfer. Then right click the mouse. Then select copy. Then chose the computer folder (not really a file) you want to place them in. Right click inside the folder. Then select paste. What happens? Jack E/NJ

What ***exactly*** does the error message on the screen say? It is important to use the same exact words as shown on the screen. A screenshot would be best if you can post it. Jack E/NJ

    Sorry about that!

Here are the message i get when i try to drag my pictures to my computer.

Windows Explorer restarts. Windows searches for a solution.

Hoping hat tells you what is the problem.

    Thanks in advance again!

Sorry, this doesn't seem to be an exactly-worded Windows error message. Are you sure? Is it possible that the message began with something like "Windows Explorer has stopped working...." or something similar. Please try to write down the exact words used in the error message that you see on your screen. Or take a screenshot if you can and post it here.

    Hello JackE,

Here are the two messages i get when i try to drag my pictures or tranfer them to a file. My computer is in french so here are the 2 messages i get:

Explorateur Windows a cessé de fonctionner and right after i get this message: Explorateur Windows redémarre. I made the translation on Google for you:

Windows Explorer has stopped working and right after i get: Windows Explorer restarts.

Hoping that will help you to understand the problem i have with my computer.

    Thanks!

    Gerald

OK. Could be a few causes. Let's assume the simplest first --- repairing a corrupted Win7 file(s).

If you haven't done so already, open the command prompt window as an administrator. At the prompt, enter "sfc /scannow" but without the quotes. This SFC command is the system file checker. It will search for and tell you if it can automatically repair corrupted Win7 files that may be causing Windows Explorer to stop working and restart itself.

Let me know the results of the SFC scan.

Yes, i did that already i just did it again. Here is the answer i get when i give the command you told me:

To be able to use the sfc utility, you must be an administrator running a console session.

However i have a copy of my windows 7 on a DVD but i do not know how to run it. When i put it in my dvd reader it does not run by itself? Could it be useful and how can i make it run and get access to the repair that i think it is on that DVD ??

Sorry if i give you all those problems, i am not a specialist with that kind of problem. I am just a poor user.

Thanks again for your help and your patience and your kindness.

    Gerald

OK Gerald. Please do this. Right click your mouse on a blank area on your Windows desktop. Hover over New and left click on Shortcut. In the box that pops up simply enter "cmd" without the quotes. Left click on next and finish. You should then have a cmd.exe black box icon on your desktop.

Then simply right click on the new cmd.exe icon. Left click on run as adminstrator. And chose yes in the box that pops up. Then again try to run "sfc /scannow" without the quotes.

    Hi,

I did exactly what you asked me. The execution of sfc /scannow was done at 100 % and gave this message:  Le programme de protection des ressources Windows n'a trouvé aucune violation d'intégrité.    Windows Resource Protection Program Found No Integrity Violation

I tried again to transfer my pics from SD card to my computer, same problem than before. Nothinf has changed. Anything else you can think ?

OK, good. Now let's try a slight variation of what we tried earlier.

Select only one picture file on the SDcard. Preferrably a file that's not very big. Right click on it. Then left click copy. Then right click to an empty space on your desktop. Then left click paste.

    What happens?

OK. Now select the same file on the SDCard. Copy it again in the same way. Then paste it back on the SDCard to try to make a 2nd copy on the SDCard. What happens now? Jack E/NJ
