Hello I'm new to the forum, and I'm looking for information on how to register my "new to me "  Acer 5750 Laptop which I will be using as backup to my own 5750. Any help would be appreciated as I intend to reinstall windows 7 instead of the current version of win 10 which I hate.

TIA

You don't need to register to re-install Win7. If the hidden recovery partition on the HDD is still intact, just follow this video to re-install Win7. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2xoMEPfiPQ  Jack E/NJ

    Hi Jack

Sorry for the delay I needed to organise a backup, I have tried the Acer backup and it doesn't work so I guess there is no hidden recovery partition on the drive. The issue now is that I dont know what was initially installed on this laptop, which is partly why I wanted to register the laptop in the first place.

Will I need to buy a copy of windows 7 with a new key to go back now or is there another option.

You can rather easily purchase the original factory-installed operating system installation media specific to your particular laptop's serial number (your choice of either USB thumbdrive or CD/DVD) at the Acer store for a nominal cost ~$20 USD.  https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/ . Just tried both the US & the UK erecovery options neither will accept the serial number or SNID for either of the two 5750g laptops that I now own, which I find strange.

The one I am currently using has been mine since I purchased it new in 2012 ( I have the original recovery discs that I made for this ) and still has the recovery partition intact, so I should be able to go back on this one reasonably easily.

The issue is the laptop I bought recently as a backup appears to be a clean win 10 install with no option to go back, are the recovery discs tied to the serial number of the laptop they were made from ?

Did you try using the autodetect tool near the end of the erecovery link? https://store.acer.com/en-us/extended/recovery/

Just installed and tried the autodetect tool and the result is the same serial number and snid not recognised, also checked these against the details I already had off the botom of the case and they are identical, looks like a call to tech support is on the cards for next week.

Sorry actual wording was ..... "We could not find the serial number you entered"

Hi Nigel---Try the customer service link inside this link. I'm still checking on other possibilities if it still doesn't work.
