How do I boot Windows 8 into Safe mode?

Windows 8 does not allow for pressing F8 on startup to enter Safe Mode. If you would like to boot the computer into Startup Settings or Safe mode in Windows 8, use the steps in the article below.

You CAN use F8 to Access Safe Mode.... 1. Open a Command Prompt window with admin rights 2. Type: bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes - Note the spacing & the "curly" brackets (or copy & paste the text) 3. Type bcdedit /timeout 3 - this is can be more or less than 3, but 3 is usually sufficiant 4. Exit cmd & restart your machine When you start your pc you will be presented with Windows boot screen. You will then have 3 seconds to press F8 - BUT PRESS ONLY ONCE AND NOT REPEATEDLY (like previous Windows versions). This will allow you to access safe mode whether or not you can boot in to Windows...

How do you open a command prompt window? I love you guys who know all this stuff about computers, but you have to remember us non techie types need step by step instructions, its like a completely different language. I really need to get into safe mode to follow other instructions as i have an issue with my control panel not opening.

So i have their steps that start from safe mode, and your steps that start from this command prompt window, but now i need more steps to open a command prompt window. I want too cry.

Move cursor to bottom left, right click on windows icon, click run command prompt as admin, then click yes when prompted
