Hi,

I just updated the bios in my aspire es1-131 from 1.11 to 1.17. All seemed to be progressing OK, but after finalization (100%) and reboot the computer is dead. Just a black screen. No logo, not possible to hit F2 or anything. Isvthere any way to fix this?? Or is it totally bricked?

Thanks in advance.

    tama41,

Hopefully you made a backup of your BIOS before you updated it, that way you can restore it back. If not, there are ways to fix it (crisis BIOS recovery) or you can contact Acer technical support in your area for options.

Is there really a crisis BIOS recovery for this model Aspire 'ES 11' / Aspire es1-131? I've googled but haven't found any. The FN + ESC procedure doesn't work to boot from usb. Please advice .

Interesting. Wonder what the trigger is to this problem. In my case, only thing I come to think of, is that when I initially executed the 1.17 .exe BIOS file within Windows, I wasn't plugged in via AC adapter. I was prompted to plugin, did that, and continued with the failed upgrade as consequence. Was that by any chance the same procedure in your case?

No, I had the ac adapter in. Before I tried to upgrade bios, I upgraded to win 10, then the fn-key stopped working for brightness and sound volume. Also power save mode didnt work, it shut down my laptop instead. So I thought a bios-upgrade would fix my problems, but it only made it worse Smiley Sad

I've tried hard to recover the BIOS myself. I did not succeed. Contact Acer support in your country to see if the can assist. Mine is sent to Acers repair center at this moment. Hopefully they are able to recover the computer.

    kubir05,

I have sent you a PM (private message) with the instructions I found. Typically these are steps that are completed at the repair depot itself, but hopefully you get it working right.

Is it a Insyde bios or Phoenix?

    Hello !
    This is an Insyde bios.
But the problem is that some files are required in order to create the usb flash recovery that I have not found at the moment.

Similar issue with ES1-131. After leaving the computer on running on battery it would not start. When starting the computer the blue light comes on but the screen remain black.

Reading online about aspire one it sounds like the bios is bad and require a flash. But when downloading the bios for ES1-131 it only include a exe file and not a .fd file.

Any input how to flash ES1-131 would be help full.

    Hi

I recently purchased Acer aspire es1-131-c3fq
Windows 8.1 with a Windows 10 now sticker on it. I upgraded to Windows 10 and the keyboard did not work.I googled the problem and seems to be common fault.. I installed all drivers again and the Serial io driver as I thought this would fix the problem. Still no keyboard working, although it would work in bios menu..

I then updated the bios as this was my last option. The laptop was plugged in. After bios update I just have a black screen and can not do anything with the laptop now..

    can any1 help..

    what is the crysis recovery?

    Hello

Well, there is no working solution at the moment but sending back the laptop to service.

That is what I have done with mine and that you should do with yours.

I did the same and got it back after two weeks. The fix was a replaced motherboard including a factory default install of win 8.1 with bing. Win 10 including personal files which was in my bricked computer gone.
