Aspire M5-581T - Broken screen

Hello

The screen on my Acer Aspire laptop is broken - it has a couple of purple cracks running diagonally and a bunch of black shapes that look like ink blots.

I have connected the laptop to a separate monitor and it works fine.

I am happy to continue using it like this for a while since replacing the screen costs more money than I have for now.

However I wanted to check:

- is it in some way dangerous to use the laptop in this state? Are there any substances inside the screen that might be toxic in some way?

I haven't noticed anything leaking out of the 'ink blots' (though they were shifting around the screen for a while).

I realise this is a strange question but researching it online, I find everything from "It is safe to be around as long as there's nothing literally flowing out." to "Wrap the laptop in plastic and throw it away even though it's too late now cause you have cancer already."

It should be safe to use as long as nothing is physically leaking from the display.
