I posted a problem a couple of months ago and I have had one unhelpful reply. In my opinion, this community is a total waste of my time. It seems evident that there will be no help coming from this site. How do I unregister?? Also, if anyone gives a **bleep**, I will never purchae another acer product.

We are bunch of people who try to help others with the issues they have and answer them the questions they ask about an Acer product. We aren't any kind of tech professionals(gurus), at least not all of us, so it is kind of likely that someone will have an issue, which can't be dealt with, especially when it is a hardware issue(can only be repaired physically). Mind that we can only guess what the issue is as we can't physically touch and see the device, so it is kind of hard to find the reason why the issue occurs.

To 'unregister', you can't. Just don't login and there is no need to unregister.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Here's a list of things you can try.

    1.  Update the BIOS

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6197?b=1

    2.  Backup your important personal files and reset your PC to factory defaults.

    3.  If the reset doesn't work, then you can either use your USB recovery drive that you made when you first purchased the computer or order your original recovery media from Acer Store.

    4.  If your computer orginally came pre-installed with Windows 8.1, you can use vanilla Windows 8.1 from here.

If you've updated to Windows 10, you can get the vanilla version from here.

Generally it's better to use the original Acer OEM Windows unless you're a little geeky.

    5. As a general rule of thumb, you don't want to use older Windows 10 drivers from Acer's website.  It's usually best to wait and see what (which drivers) Microsoft automatically gives you during the installation process especially if you're installing vanilla windows 10.  If you're installing vanilla Windows 8.1, then it's generally ok to use the Windows 8.1 drivers froms Acer's website.

    6.  If you post your complete model number eg. E5-722G-???? you might get better/more suggestions.

If you post the OS (Operating System) that originally came pre-installed on your computer, sometimes you can get better/more suggestions.

    7.  If you post your current BIOS version, sometimes that's helpful too.

To find your current BIOS version......

---right click on the windows start button

    ---left click on run

    ---type msinfo32

    ---click ok

    8.  Sometimes the easiest thing to do is to just backup your important stuff and then reset the PC to factory defaults so you can get a fresh start.......because you can waste hours trying to troubleshoot.....and it's especially difficult (and time consuming) to try and troubleshoot over the internet on a forum without having the PC in front of you.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
