network card issue

Hello

I have a strange problem with my network card. It is reporting that the newtork cable is unplugged, but it is not. I have tested changed the cable and tested it. I have plugged the cable into other computers to verify the cable and it works.

Also because I am on a network, I have plugged the network cable into the router directly (missing out the patch panels) and then it detectes the network.

So it is strange as I have verified that

1. The network card works.

2. The cabling works for ther machines.

Can anyone think of anything else?

Do you know for sure that the patch panel jack is wired? If so, is it wired correctly? Try another jack. Try a known working PC on the jack that is in question. (Of course, I'm assuming that you haven't already done this.)
