Windows 8.1 compared to Windows 8

I noticed on my Gateway ( now owned by ACER ) that Windows 8 at full 1080P had a  3 tier ( colume ) height and the Tiles were decently sized on my 60 inch plasma screen. Yet when I updated to Windows 8.1 soame resolution it becomes 4 Tier high thereby shrinking the size of the Tile apps in the start menu !!   I want my 3 Tier back has anyone experianced this issue or noticed this happening ? I'm running an AMD 6670 HD card

To resize a tile

  1. On the Start screen, press and hold the tile you want to resize. (If you’re using a mouse, right-click the tile.)

  2. Tap or click Resize, and then pick the size you want.

i'm not talking idividual tiles Tommy. As a whole when the tier of tiles (columns) become greater a la Tetris ...the Tiles as a whole become smaller!

Re: Windows 8.1 compared to Windows 8

Given a fixed tier size, when you add additional tiles to the column, the tiles would shrink to accomodate the fixed height.

Have you attempted to change the size of one of the tiles to see if it would 'push' the other tiles?
