My Acer desktop has been increasingly erratic for several months. Shuts down by itself for no reason - front panel USB ports and card reader don't function etc. So I did a "Restore Operating System and Retain User Data". After that finished the system and reboots and I get the following message "Windows cannot complete installation on this computer". Since I didn't get any system discs with this computer what can I do? It does this in Safe and any other mode. I'm told by Acer support that I no longer have warranty telesupport. Is it time to throw this thing out? What does anyone suggest?

you do not say what desktop you have
it might need to be reloaded totally instaed of try save user data
