Didn't uninstall them yet, as you suggested doing the java first.
Will let you know.

and I believe the one you are suggesting is 4th up from bottom of list, file size 11mb? If that's correct, I'll give that a whirl and hope that my games, and all the other stuff I do that's java based still work. This whole situation has dented my confidence lol.

Yes that is the one. Sorry to know that you have a dip in the confidence. We will make the messenger ok. It happens to me some times in yahoo.

Well I thought I had vista OS, 32 bit, but back on post 24, you said I had 64 bit. So I've just taken screen shot of system info. According to that, I have 32 bit. I did notice something odd. Last week when I had looked at system info (prior to uninstalling service pack 1 update done on Mar. 8th), it said I had service pack 2. Now I notice it says I now have service pack 1 again? I think it was March 14th, that service pack 2 was downloaded/installed because that was the one needed to support internet explorer 9 (now no longer seems to work). So, I am perplexed. Here is the screen shot:
I just uninstalled servica pack one the other day..leading to all these other issues

I've looked at the list on this page: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/down
I just do not see anything for Vista 32 bit. Any suggestions?
