The caps lock logo you mention must be displayed by some software you have installed. I've never seen it at all. It's not built into the monitor.

I don't have a caps lock logo eaither.

Crosspatch, I don't know about software. When I bought the machine, new, it came with this "feature." If I remember correctly, this was on every Acer unit in the store when I went back to ask about this feature.
I did a test, swapping out monitors, and it seems to be in the box, rather than the monitor. If it's special software, it must have been installed when the machine was set up (manufacturer?). The retailer couldn't tell me anything about this.
If I turn caps lock on, a gray rectangle with a white image of a lock about an inch and a half tall appears just below the center of the screen. Annoying as all get out. When I turn caps lock off, the lock appears again, but this time unlocked. If the text I'm typing appears behind this image, then I have a hard time reading where I am.
My keyboard tells me when caps lock is on. It's also obvious from what I'm typing. So this extra feature is redundant and a nuisance.
So, back to the Energy Saver / Acer Logo business with the monitor. Perhaps someone from Acer can chime in on this.

Hi Rod,
Try switching the keyboard, I recon this comes from the driver or some software the keyboard uses.
Cheers,
Carl

Carl,
This is an awesome idea, but my Acer keyboard gave out several weeks ago and I've been using a Logitech keyboard since then. Same problem.
I truly appreciate you offering your thinking cap, though. I'm sure one of us has a solution.
Thanks,
Rod
