Six Week Old CB5-571 Battery Issues

Hello all,

Purchased end of Dec 2016, new from Amazon (not 3rd party, not refurb).

At first the battery life was ~7-8h

Slowly it is showing at ~4-5h after charging fully.

 

I did a chat w/tech support this a.m., I was told to do a hard reset, allow battery to fully discharge then recharge to full.

 

Anyone have this issue, and what resolution you found for it?

    I've seen similar issues with both Windows and Android, but I don't remember it with a Chromebook. Basically the algorithm that calculates battery health gets confused and needs to do a recalibration. You recalibrate by doing a couple of full cycles on the battery. Charge it fully, let it discharge until it shuts down, repeat a couple more times. After that it should go back to showing the correct numbers for time remaining. If that doesn't do it , it is possible that there is something actually wrong with the battery, in which case you should contact Acer support for a warranty repair.
