Hi

I have Aspire X3900 (WIG43) with Geforce Nvidia 315. Looks like that HDMI port is not passingthrough SPDIF as I only receiving PCM2.0 on my AV receiver. It was ok and suddenldy it stops. I recovered system from August but still the same so can't be a software issue.

I thinking about replacing the card with GeForce GT 710 http://www.geforce.co.uk/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-710/specifications.

Can someone advise if this new card will work with my Desktop?

Thanks

  • Hello,

Aspire X3900 series is equipped with PSUs of 220W and e.g. GF 315 (33W), GT 320 (43W). The power consumption of GT 710 is 19W so no problems. Be carefull you have to find a Low Profil graphic board.

For information, MSI GT 710 LP (there are several models):

    Thanks,

The good news is that all is working fine today. Not sure what's happened. Maybe the problem was with AV receiver.

    Any way one more question.

If I will buy this card as an upgrade do you know if there might be some incompatibilities or all should work fine? The computer is from 2011 and GT710 is relatively new card so 5 years difference in technology. What do you think about this?

    Thanks

  • About GT 710, there will be no problem of compatibility.

About S/PDIF output, this signal comes from the sound "board" (onboard/motherboard) so I would re-install the Realtek audio driver.
