New Acer Aspire V3 574 - Noisy Fan

Hi, I just bought a brand new Aspire V3 574 laptop today but am concerned the fan seems very noisy. I'm not even doing anything complex on the pc just yet, having just set it up! I bought it because of the i7 chip but think that extra processing power is not worth it if I'm drowned out continually by such a noisy fan! Should I return it and buy something else?

I haven't done anything fancy to the settings....everything else about the laptop is fine but this sounds much louder than anything else I've had before...thanks for any feedback.

    mrsc1000,

Sorry to hear that you are not having the best possible experience right out of the box with your new notebook. Smiley Frustrated

The good news is that you have options available to you; you can contact the reseller and work out something with them or you can contact Acer in your area for options with them.

When I bought my Acer Aspire desktop 4 years ago it was a squeaking noise from the computer. So I delivered back my computer where I bought it, and the company changed the power supply.

That solved the problem on my computer.

I have a similar issue.  A new Acer V3 574T laptop, but my one has an i5 processor.  The fan kicks in a lot and is quite loud.  I downloaded a little program called Core Temperature, and even when the computer isn't doing very much, ie. maybe one internet tab on a browser is open, the temperatures can reach up to 75o C before the fans kick in.  At the same time I monitor the CPU performance in Task Manager, and the highest it ever goes is about 30%.

I can set the power setting in Settings to Power Saving mode, and that does tend to lower the noise, however that also limits by processor to .78Ghz.  On Balanced setting the fan is a fairly constant feature.

I really want to know if this is to be expected for my model or not before I bring it back to the store.  Can anyone from the Acer team give me a definite answer?  Other than the noise, I love the computer, but it is very distracting for the type of work I do, and I've never heard any other laptop being quite so loud.

    Thanks.
