Hello

We have a TC-120 that had a message pop up saying that it needed a BIOS update.  Now the system isn't posting (nothing at all on HDMI or VGA).  The system does beep on startup.  I get 2 Beeps, followed by some HDD activity, followed by 9 beeps then 7 beeps.  I think the BIOS was corrupted some how.

Been reading around trying to find out how to perform a BIOS recovery.  2 Beeps from what I can tell is "Recovery Started."  I think the BIOS is looking for a recovery image to flash the bios with off of the HDD.   Any idea what I need to rename my P11-A4.CAP to?

What I've done:

  • Cleared CMOS using jumper and removing battery
  • Used a different HDD formated in FAT16 and tried copying following names in the root of the drive:  BIOS.cap, BIOS.fd, P11-A4.cap
  • Tried copying the CAP file to the ROM subdirectory since that was how it was in the update zip.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

rename the .CAP inside the ROM folder file to RCVBOOT.CAP and copy the file alone to the root of the USB flash drive (i don't know if FAT32 or FAT16)

    I'm not an Acer employee.
