Re: Iconia A500 frozen at Acer logo boot screen

This is what worked for me, I had the tablet shut off and was taking a paperclip to the reset button several times and then turned on the power button still pushing the paperclip in and out several times until the android word came up. I purchased 2 of these and my kids love them would hate not to have their tablets. Good luck everyone.

Try using a paperclip several times while unit is off then continue pushing clip in and out then turn on power still pushing clip in and out until you see the word android. Worked for me. Hope it helps.

Re: Iconia A500 frozen at Acer logo boot screen

I tried all four files on my A100 and did not work.  My tab is booting to the android screen then just cycles.  when I get the dead android  the script near the end says E:failed to mount/mnt/sdcard (No such file or directory) does this make a differance?

Re: Iconia A500 frozen at Acer logo boot screen

I had the same issue, with my A500 not booting, just showing the “Acer” logo on the screen.  I read a number of forums and tried the various factory resets but nothing worked.  Here is the background on my A500:

Purchase Date: Nov/27/2011

Warranty expired on:  Feb/27/2013

Date issue started: May/13/2013

After trying everything I could and not seeing much hope based on the things I was reading on the forums, I took a leap of faith and on July/11/2013, I went to the Acer Support website and used the “Ask Acer” function.  I entered my Serial Number and entered the issue I was having.  On the same day I received a response asking for the following:

  1. First Name:
  2. Last Name:
  3.  E-mail Address:
  4.  Shipping Address (including Street address, Country, City, State and zip code. Please note that PO BOX address is not accepted):
  5.  Phone Number:
  6.  Purchase Date (MM/DD/YY):
  7.  OS Language [ English/French]:
  8.  Windows login and Bios passwords or you may remove it and specify as No passwords:

I immediately replied with the information they were asking for and on the same day, I received a message with this slightly ambiguous line:

“I have verified your product serial number and found that the unit is not covered under standard limited warranty.   In order to resolve the issue, we can schedule a free repair for your computer. “

I wasn’t sure if the “free” repair would be free, because the unit was “not covered under the standard limited warranty”.  But I received another email the next day with information on how to ship my A500 to the Acer repair facility in Texas (I live in California).  I took the A500 to a Fed-ex store, purchased a padded box for $13 and had them ship the tablet using the pre-paid shipping label that Acer provided in the email.  It shipped on July/16/2013 and was received by Acer on July/22/2013.

On July/29/2013 I received an email saying: “Your computer has been repaired and has been prepared for shipment. You will receive another eMail containing the shipping tracking number.”

On July/31/2013 I received an email saying: “You are receiving this notification to inform you that your Acer product on the above Case ID and Serial Number has been shipped back to you from our Acer Repair Facility.  To better assist you in tracking this shipment visit http://www.fedex.com/tracking and enter the tracking number.”

On Aug/01/2013, Fed-ex delivered my repaired A500.  It was like new and I did have to re-enter all the account information and reinstall all the apps, but I am very happy with the process I followed.  It seemed like a long-shot, especially since the limited warranty had expired.  I am not sure if following this process will work for everyone, but I am just letting you all know that it worked for me. I am very happy with Acer and their process.

Re: Iconia A500 frozen at Acer logo boot screen

Hello,

I have the problem too. Suddenly my acer stopped booting. Tried all the update.zip. Got the dead android screen. Funny thing I get the same results without the sd card too. So looks like for most of the people for whom the update.zip is not working is because of the system not recognizing the sd card.

Will try another sd card and will update if it works.

After two years of faultless service suddenly frozen at Acer logo. Nothing here has worked. Can't believe that there are 25 pages of people crying for help and no response from Acer.
