Hi

I attempted to upgrade from Android 1.7 to 2.1 but failed.

Encounter following error (image). Followed all steps but retry buttun still greyed. Therefore could not proceed anymore.

Right now my phone cannot boot into OS. Just hangs in start screen.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

check on task manager if ADB is listed, if listed, kill the process and then follow again the instruction to enable retry

ADB not listed in Task manager.

    Additional action taken:

Set handset to download mode but still no effect (depressed power + vol down + camera).

The instruction on the Acer download tool is correct, remember to hold the 2 buttons and keep them pressed inserting the USB cable.

try also to enter fastboot mode

take off battery, then insert battery

then press Camera + < (back), keep them pressed and insert USB cable.

Did as you suggested. Still same error.

    Additional information:

    1. Phone freezed at usb_init (last line in phone screen)

    2. Window error said (image):

    3. In device manager:

Exclamation mark in Acer fastboot interface (image). This is inspite of usb driver had been updated from Acer support website.

The Acer Liquid flash utility and drivers are old version and can have some problems on 8.1; if you can find a windows 7 PC it will be better.

    check this:

Tried as is instructed in Modaco, still same result, no success.

Instruction at Modaco suggested updating to the usb driver listed there. However, could not update fastboot interface driver as it is already latest (image).

Will try with a Win7 pc when I get one.

    Thank you.

    Flashed with Win7 PC successful.

    Steps:

    • Update USB driver
    • Run the flash utility
