won't go into sleep mode when audio/video is playing

I have an Aspire 5517 running Windows 7. When on battery power, the computer will not go to sleep if it is playing any audio or video file through the speakers. Pause the stream and the computer will sleep as normal on power saver options, but if I leave it playing on battery power computer will not sleep or hibernate. When battery reaches critical level computer will not shut down and I have to restart windows later.

This seems like a problem with a driver. Can anybody tell me the right one to install to fix this problem?

You may  launch a Command Prompt window using the "Run as administrator" option. (Search for "cmd", right-click and select "Run as administrator".)

Then run this command:   powercfg -requests

What this will do is tell you any programs or devices that are currently preventing the system from entering sleep mode.

I have tried powercfg -requests. It says there are no devices that are preventing sleep mode.

    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -requests
    DISPLAY:
    None.

    SYSTEM:
    None.

    AWAYMODE:
    None.
