New Acer Windows 7 will not immediately connect to wireless

I have a brand new Acer Aspire E NX M9RAA 006. It has Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. The wireless adapter is working, as I can see my router, as well as nearby ones. It will not immediately connect to my router. Sometimes after numerous attempts it will finally connect. My router is encrypted and the correct password is input.

Once it is connected, it works fine.

Any suggestions? Thank you!!!!

If you remove the encryption, does it connect more quickly?

Nothing worked. The computer had to get sent back to Acer for repair. I worked with three different technicians....each was sure they had the solution....none had any idea what to do.
