Acer Aspire V5-431P Touchpad not responding

My touchpad has been working fine until today. The cursor has disappeared and the touchpad is unresponsive, right-clicks and all that aren't working. I can only use an external mouse or use the touch screen to navigate around.

I've tried all the solutions I've found (such as, Fn+F7, re-installing drivers) except for going into device manager and checking out the problem. Without an external mouse plugged in, the 'Mice and other pointing devices' menu doesn't show up at all.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this??
Thanks in advance.

  • You could try a system restore to a point when the Touchpad was working, a Refresh also helpful but backup any important data and installed third party programs to an external hard drive to be on the safe side.

Currently doing a refresh on the laptop.

Would just like to add that the keyboard device has decided to stop working too. :/ This happened after I plugged the HDMI cord to connect my laptop to my TV.

Could that be related to any of the problems? Smiley Frustrated
