Thanks for the link. I am considering this laptop as well, the second HDD bay being one of the reasons. In addition to the caddy, does the HDD need an adaptor to connect, or does it slide into place without the need for an adaptor? I would imagine that both HDDs would connect in the same fashion, so if the original needs an adaptor, so will the secondary drive.
Also, can anyone point me to a link for the manual for this computer?
Thanks in advance.

No other adapters are necessary, although they dont package the bracket with the necessary screws to hold it onto the hard drive. you'd think that for $20 they would include them!!!

You can find info on how to retrieve user guide here:
http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4
Where can the User's Guide be located?
For computers that shipped with Windows 8
For computers that shipped with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The User's Guide for your computer may be located on the computer itself:

i think its possible to just use "universal" hdd/ssd screws (the holes on the side ect should be the same size and last time i checked.... there's some space between the lid you remove to get to the hdd bay(s). should work with diffrent screw. i am getting my 19$ screw-free piece next week.... will let you know how it goes. (will also check with local acer resellers if they have any "spare screws" i can buy)
and just like the answer before mine... you don't need adapters. just slide it into place and it should be fine, as long as you removed both the ac-cord and the battery before opening your v3-771g up. might add a youtube video as well ![]()

Is there any chance to get the second
Acer Aspire V3-771G HDD CoverBracket in the UK?
Ordering from the US, Canada and continental Europe
doubles the price due to shipping costs etc. and
then the fitting screws might not even be included...

Hi, does anyone know where I can get one of these from the UK. All the V3-771g's are selling for £25 on ebay, i'm not paying £25 for a freaking caddy!
JoeBlack... did you get one eventually?
Thanks

Before buying anything, have a good look under the cover! I formatted the HD and installed Linux, which works fine. Today I happened to have a look at Linux' disk tool. That revealed that my V3-771G has in fact a small (4 g.) SSD disk besides the 500 giga HD! Just clicking on 'computer' did not reveal the existence of that SSD. I have not opened the back of my laptop yet, but obviously that small SSD has to be somewhere. I also do not know what Acer has used that SSD for and whether I can safely format it and place the Linux system files on it for a super-fast boot. Anyone who knows about that?

Digging deeper, I see that the SSD is marked as "swap". So it should be safe to format it...
