I have an Aspire One 722. I have already checked the hard drive to see if it is loose. When going to boot sequence and in the information it gives me the HDD info. I've checked many forums and nothing is mentioned on what to do if you get the message and it recognizes the HDD. Please help??

If you have already checked the HDD connections, and the drive is still being identified in BIOS and on the boot screen, it is possible that something has affected the boot sectors on the drive, so that it is not being seen as bootable.

I would suggest getting or creating a bootable drive (CD/DVD or USB Flash) and booting from it to see if you can salvage any data from the drive itself, or attempt a repair of the bootable portion of the HDD.

Other than that, you can certainly contact your local Acer service center for assistance.

I've had the same problem as the original poster and after attempting (unsuccessfully) to reinstall windows/recover my data/figure out what happened, it became clear that it was a HDD failure. Doing some research in a variety of forums - including this one - it appears that HDD failures on this model are somewhat common. Did Acer get a bad batch of drives from Western Digital?

Check cable connection usually means the drive isn't recognized by the system. 9 times out of 10 you can solve this by opening your computer and removing the hard drive and then reseating it. Hopefully it loads Windows normally. If it has the same message you're out of luck, if the message changes you can try a recovery to reinstall windows.
