I am getting the following message on boot up:  Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:  <Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe.  Please re-install a copy of the above file.

How do I do this and where do I find the file?

You will need the Windows OS disk and either install over the top as an upgrade or extract the file from the disk in command prompt.

The other way is to remove the hdd from the computer and boot it as a secondary data disk on another pc, then run chkdsk /f from a command prompt to try and repair the damage on the drive.

    I hope this helps.
