I have an Acer aspire 5738z and I wanted to upgrade the CPU. It currently has 2.2GHZ intel Pentium dual core cpu and I have bought a 2.8 GHZ Pentium dual core cpu to replace it. I have done some research on the socket fit and it seems that the new cpu has the right socket (478 pin) and it fits in the port perfectly. After using some thermal paste I put the laptop back together and started her up. But unfortunately She didn't start up properly, the LED lights around the plug socket light up but the screen stays blank and four sharp beebs play out after a couple of seconds. I haven't found any help on the internet about my problem so can somebody please help me! ![]()

Unfortunately, We cannot provide a lot of assistance in this area. It is possible that the MB is not rated for the CPU you purchased. I do not show us selling an AS5738z with this speed of CPU.
Hopefully someone else in the community can provide a bit more support on an upgrade issue such as this.
