aspire 5742 Windows 7, dvd/cd-rom not present in device manager, dvd/cd-rom drive not seen

dvd/cd-rom entry missing in Device Manager, how can I re-add the drive?

you can download the driver from the support website and you could have a look at this link how to do that http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10836/kw/drivers%20re%20installation/sno/1

 

and if icon is still not available in my computer you can try this methodology

Thanks. Been on both Acer & Microsoft sites and still nothing works... the DVD/CD-rom entry & drive showed up briefly and then 'disapaared''??

Then there is issue with your computer you could send in for warranty repair if it is under warranty hence you could contact acer else you can contact local tech for OOW repair..
