I to was going to take the plunge and get a Chromebook, after a bit of research the C720 seemed like the perfect choice. Completely changed my mind now.
First of all, to get a machine reviewed across the internet with one spec then to sell it into Europe with the same name and a different spec is very misleading. Why does it have the same model name? The RAM cannot be upgraded - so it’s a different model surely?
Secondly, from my short experience with Acer as a company (and reading this thread, I’m not the only one) they are just not interested in engaging with their customers.
Company’s acting like this in terms of misleading products and poor customer service, will be a problem for Google as they rely on manufacturers to represent them, in this case very poorly. I can see Google launching more and more of their own hardware - just to avoid this customer experience of their product. Where will this eventually leave companies like Acer who don’t do a proper job. I think we can all guess.

The only positive note of the device, is the processor. Everything else is bad (the screen) or is neutered (SSD socket, ram memory). For me, a bitter disappointment.
Expect and hope that LENOVO, SAMSUNG or ASUS can offer interesting solutions, starting from an IPS screen at 11.6 inches. From GOOGLE / ACER do not expect anything.

Hi Acer, just dropped by to let you know my frustration. I waited weeks for this to be released based on the reviews I was seeing online only to later find out you're shipping to the UK with HALF the RAM.
I Google'd to find some kind of explanation but it appears you do not have one.
You've lost another customer. Hello HP.
Farewell!

Just another potential customer waiting to hear about the C720-2800 with 4G of RAM. I can only find the 2GB version so far in the UK. Hint hint, Acer.

According to Currys (store in UK) the 2GB model is upgradeable to 4GB maximum RAM. Is this the case or not? Is the UK model different from what I've seen pictured?
I want a 4GB model. Please Acer release such a beast
Or at least allow customers to insert a single DIMM in addition to the soldered on RAM

I agree 2gb is enough for now, but you know they will update the OS which require more and more RAM and over time 4gb will be a better buy. Plus I want to run Linux on it, not Chrome OS
