Its the 2gb RAM. Specs say "2GB DDR3 (4GB maximum installable RAM)" which seems to imply that you could increase it? Guess we'll see in the coming weeks as people start tinkering.

yeah, im yet to see a 4GB model of this C720 in europe. All say expandable, but the device itselft has the RAM soldered. So let's wait ![]()

Yes, the PC World states: 2 GB DDR3 (4 GB maximum installable RAM). I called Acer from USA to UK, and spoke with someone who transferred me to another department. After a long wait, the "another department" turned out to be "another country." I kept asking about: 1. Will a 4 gb model be released? and 2. How can the 2 gb RAM be upgraded to 4 gb? Nothing but long waits and frustration, I was told, "That information is not available at this time. You'll just have to wait." I said, "Wait, am I talking with Acer Corporation? How can Acer Corporation have no information about an Acer Computer?" Also, I finally found a way to email the same questions to Acer's vaunted Support Team last week, but nobody's bothered to respond.
I'm a motivated customer trying to spend money on this company's products. Unfortunately, they're doing everything to prevent me from doing so.

Very bad support and a strange style.
It seem that ram it's soldered back down and the special socket for ssd could create trouble if try to change the little 16GB.

I gave up on Acer and in turn the Chrome OS because of this mess.
I went for the slightly more expensive and larger than i'd like but better equipped Lenovo Thinkpad Edge.
Its a shame as I was quite excited by the idea of using a Chromebook.

Yes, I'm starting to think in other directions, too. If I'm having this many problems before I've even bought the thing, then that's an indication of what I can expect if I make the mistake of actually buying one.
I'm in the USA, and I'd like to get a good machine for my son, who's in Glasgow. I've been pretty impressed with Lenovo. If you have any information about where you bought your Lenovo Thinkpad, and what it cost, could you please reply with that information?
Sorry, Acer. You were my first choice. You lose.

I picked up my Thinkpad E330 which has an i3 chip and 4gb ram and 750gb hard drive for a little over 300 pounds but that was in Hong Kong.
It works ok, perhaps a little clunky but i'm not used to windows as have been on a mac for 20 years. I plan on installing Linux when i'm home.
