My question is if i reformat the hard drive will i be able to reinstall the preinstalled windows 8 from the bios the same way i would if leaving the hard drive in its current GPT format.
Also is this in any way covered in the warranty as a violation of warranty as I would very much hope I am allowed to use my machine how i want so long as it is not detrimental by default to the machine.
Any feedback or knowledge on this situation would be greatly appreciated as its not clearly covered in any online materials if i can just
A) convert my hdd as it is to MBR format without losing data and needing to reinstall windows or
B) whether any of this is going to invalidate my warranty with acer. any help appreciated

The preinstalled Windows 8 is not contained in the BIOS.
Please create backup media before attempting to change any of the hardware parameters as the system is shipped.
We do not provide support for changes to the formatting of the drive, but it would not invalidate the warranty on the hardware.
I do not believe that you will be able to run a convert operation on the drive to change it from GPT to MBR. At least, I've not seen anything that would lead me to believe that could be done. They are very different partition table types.
