Recovery CD will not work

Hi

Hope someone can help - I have an Acer Aspire AS2026WLMI one of the 2020 series laptops. Due to a corruption I have had to reformat the hard drive. Naturally I expected the CD is to restore to factory condition, i.e. backup and recovery CDs- would be simply a matter of loading them to get back to a clean machine. Unfortunately, these CDs do not work! The unit is too old to have eRecovery Management. In addition there are no instructions whatsoever on how to use them! The CDs have a listed part number of: SR.A2502.001 instant-on arcade 2402.051 recovery CD disc 2-1 XP home 2402.051 recovery CD disc 2-2 XP home

I would be most grateful if you were able to supply instructions on how to use these CDs because they are not recognised and do not boot-up.

I have managed to get the Windows Professional installed – which I paid for, for this machine but now I find that I have no WiFi. Looking in the device manager I find yellow question marks under other devices so I do not have: Ethernet Controller

Multimedia Audio Controller Network Controller PCI Modem Video Controller VGA Compatible.

A point to note is that I still have a Section of the HD partitioned off as D: with ACERDATA in it but this is of little use - should I format this?

How do I make these yellow highlighted sections work?

The Drivers were installed but none of them took in order to make the wireless etc work. I am reduced to having to send it to Acer to re-install to make it work. What is the cost for Acer to re-instal and update the drivers?

I got a reply back from Acer Support but I am afraid that I don’t trust the information. I am not racist but I have learnt that although people in an Indian Call Centre try their best, they often misunderstand and give the wrong information. Or they regurgitate the appropriate ‘script’ as an automatic reply. The other frustration is you cant ‘communicate as they prefer you ‘don’t reply’  to them. On both accounts the information reply is not convincing enough to take the risk on purchasing CD’s if they won’t do the job. I already have 3 cd’s that came with the laptop which are useless. A local shop will wipe the drive clean and reinstall (without Acer entrails) for £45. Has anyone purchased these Acer CD’s and will they work from boot up to a reformatted Hard Drive?

Here is the Indian Acer reply:

    Dear Sir

You were inquiring about: I have a Acer Aspire AS2026WLMI one of the 2020 series laptop.
It requires re-installation of the factory set programs as recovery did not work. Nor did update to drivers. I require a quote to re-input back to 'factory state' with addition of updated latest drivers. What is the cost for this?
