That is good news Karen. Keep us updated on the replacement and how it works.
Good luck!

did you check the section under the cardboard? 1/2 is packaged in the cubby, as is a screen cleaner.

I originally posted my frustration ~2 weeks ago....
Here's my POSITIVE UPDATE:
* contacted Acer-Cory via PM and received prompt courteous escalations to Level 2 support.
* Level 2 promptly sent a new replacement laptop (SSID 320) which I received yesterday.
* At Home Wi-Fi response (approx 3mbps) is not as fabulous as my 3yr old Dell & Lenovo (8-10)
* At Work close to a repeater this unit is averaging 25
(with highs of 98 near the Tech Dept service repeaters! and lows of 12 in the cubicle farm... as good as other systems)
Summary - I'm officially thrilled with both the quick support I was provided, and the functionality of the machine.
I'll continue to monitor the wi-fi response time... but as of right now I think I have a laptop I can enjoy working with and using!

Does anybody else has the problem that the Wifi shuts down if you insert an USB.3-Stick or USB.3-Harddrive in the second USB.3-Port?
After I got my R7 back from Wifi-repair I first thougt it is okay, but it really allways crashs if I use the back USB.3 with an USB.3 device (USB.2 is no problem)...
Don't know what causes this, but Acer got me to send my R7 again back to the repair center :-(
I'm starting to get quite frustrated with Acer, especially because the support is not very comfortable. It takes a lot of time or luck to get help!

Has anyone tried to visit acer.com (us) today? Site seems to be down right now.
I've been checking on the repair status of my brand new replacement R7 that had to go back for 'repairs'. It has been there since Wednesday. FYI, don't expect a 2 day turn around for repairs.

As a follow up (which I totally forgot to do last week), I received my replacement laptop from Acer. The internet speeds now finally exceed what I get on my iPhone 5's wireless connection everywhere in my house!
To anyone having issues:
Call Acer Support. Tell your story to a level 1 tech, if they go through the usual send us your laptop to repair or driver/BIOS updates then ask to speak to a level 2 tech.
The level 2 techs should know what is going on. If your machine is suffering the same problems many of ours have, then they will send you a replacement. Keep in mind that you'll either have to send your defective one in first OR put a charge on your credit card to hold the cost of the new machine which they will drop off after you ship your old laptop back to them. They will pay for everything! You just need to have a credit card available if you don't want to be without a computer for a few days.
It was quick and easy. They even called to follow up with me and my satisfaction with the new machine.
Thanks to everyone in the thread that helped out.
P.S. If you can't make headway with a level 2 tech or you can't get to one. Talk to Acer-Cory on this forum. He can help.

You will all love this story
This is hard to believe
I have been away a few days because of having no PC
The WIFI is a major issue. I decided I could live with the USB adaptor until they come up with a fix
Especially since everything else was working good.
Fortunately I bought the insurance at best buy
A few days ago I noticed my screen was flickering a little and it stopped
I left my oppice and went to the kitchen to eat
When I came back to the office the screen on my PC was flickering on and off
and I couldnt do anything to stop it. Then my worse nightmare occured. My PC went off
When I rebooted it wouldnt start. I couldnt recover it. Nothing worked. This made the WIFI seem
like a very small issue .
So I called Acer Tech supportonly to be told it was a hardware issue and it needed to
be repaired. He also told me that it would take 2-3 weeks.
I told him about this forum and how others replaced their PCs
He told me He could not do that. I was on the phone for an hour
He told me I could call bsck and maybe their would be a TEH 2 suoort person
Then I remembered The Geek Squad and my extended coverage
Went to best buy and the service mgr said the harddrive went and a few other things
and He exchanged it for a new one even though I am beyond my 14 days
I went home and would have to go through the agonizing time of setting the PC up again
and since I lost everything it was a big headache
When I got home for the unpackaging I set my new shiny PC on my desk
and it wobbled . It would not sit flat on the table. It was awful and then when I opened it the wobble changed sides
Now I am praying asking God why?
I was so upset I think I was paralyzed. My wife went back to bes buy again
and they gave her another one. I set it up and I got 0.75 for the WIFI
I put the adator in and it went up to 20
Then I noticed how hot it was running and the fan running constantly
YIKES I am so glad I have the Geek Squad
Fix or replace for a year and I dont have to call Acer
I am very pleased with The service BB gives
Now I have decide wether to get PC #4
Can anyone top this story I have never had anything like this happen
Isnt this fun
Keep Smiling
Keep Praying
God Bless You All ![]()

I also had bad wifi-connection, and after calling acer-support in germany, i sent my r7 to be repaired (at their cost). Got it back after 1 1/2 weeks, and now it seems to work. According to repair report they changed a defectt ram-module, installed a "r7.kit", and did a bios update. Now i get constant 35mbit/s with internal wifi (still a little slower than external usb-stick with 50 mbit/s, but ok for me). Unfortunately, the included bluetooth-mouse still doesnt connect, but beside of that, im happy now..
