I've posted this before but will post it again in case someone missed it. I was having the wifi issue as well until I changed my wireless router settings to "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" from "Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)."

Unfortunately there are mobile devices that use the router and they cannot work with the 5 Ghz setting.
I do like how many people have found a band aid or two to fix the "White Elephant" Acer has given us.
I had a friend a while ago who had so much rust on his car he covered it with duct tape. It did the job. LOL!

Just got my brand new replacement R7 with an SNID of 333xxxxx. The wifi issue has been fixed.

bengalvfan yeah i read it somewhere else too that wifi works on those which has SNID 327xxxx or greater but if yours working on SNID 320xxxx then that's good news. Keep us updated.
I will go best buy next week to exchange mine with newer ones.

wferguson99 Well thanks for letting us know. I will try changing the router settings later.
I think my iphone4 doesn't work with that. That's why i chnaged the router settings last year. Also i don't think comcast modem supports that either.I will cross check again.
I wonder if that's why it worked in coffee shop but not in my office (doesn't even connect) even though office network is 10 times faster than coffee shop.
How is the speed though and from how much distance you are accessing the connection?

Xellic How come its not working with external network adapter??? Did you disable the internal one through device manager? External one will work only if you would enable it. If you did that and still not working then there is some serious hardware issues, might be motherboard is not receiving(or recognizing) the signals.

I use it about 30 feet away from my router. My router allows me to set up two separate SSIDs as you can see below ... one for 2.4GHz and one for 5 GHZ. So I use the 2GHz SSID with my cell phone and then the 5GHz with my Acer.
By the way, I use a Comcast modem as well since my internet services is provided by Comcast.

Reports of serial numbers working were by a few people. But it is doubtful at some point they chaged the production line to eliminate the cheap parts that are causing the issues. That would require a larger change and a new model number.
I have never seen such a consistent problem on a model in 30 years. I could bet a friend the WIFI won't work, go to any Best Buy, purchase a brand new R7 and win the bet.
The external adapter takes away a key USB port and there are only 3 to start with. And of course there is the extra cost. Imagine a company taking responsibility for buying cheap parts and recalling the bad units. I imagine that company will never be called Acer.
What a shame! And what a black eye for Best Buy as well!
