"...As for availability, the new R7 will hit Europe, the Middle East and Africa in late 2013, with the base price set at €999, though we're not sure when to expect it stateside just yet..."

where are you readig this?
em 09-03-2013 09:43 AM
Got my R7 back, they replaced one SDIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.KIN (I've got the 8GB Version), the keyboard (the space key wasn't working properly - but it's not much better now) and "KIT.R7.REWORK".
I also got a lot of scratches which were definitely not there before...
And: they deleted all datas and set the R7 back to sero... Nothing left... No App-Data, programms, pictures... I asked them on phone if they are going to exchange the R7 and if so, if I can get back the original harddrive, because of all the datas. They told me, they don't exchange anything without contacting me... Okay, they never told me not deleting everything, but for me that was given...
So I've had to start from the beginning with a million Windows updates and so on...
First I thougt, the WIFI is working better, I was able to install all the updates, but after that the WIFI started with issues again. Sometimes it's working on a place where it never worked before and then the WIFI crashes completely...
(It's not the WIFI in general because an other PC or Mobile works great to the same time)
I'm not quite sure, but it seems to get worse, if I insert my brand-new USB3-Stick on one of the two USB-Ports on the left side (the stick works properly on an other PC). Has anybody the same problem?
P.S. My SND starts with 322

Hopefully those won't have the wifi issue.

Wait to see if the new one has the same WIFI issues. Looks like they added a pen to make up for the poor design of the touch pad.

In addition to getting the mandatory upgrade to Intel's Haswell processors, the Aspire R7 will now come bundled with an Acer active pen for use on the 15.6-inch, 1080p touchscreen.

No, they still didn't fix it. I just bought the laptop a day ago from best buy. For first couple of hours, it worked fine but now it started dropping the wifi connection (although everythging else is still connected to wifi). Router is literally not even 10m far. I knew about this issue before buying the laptop but i though Acer would've fixed it by now. I asked best buy guy if this is latest shipment. He said it received within last 1 week. So DO NOT BUY, its still not fixed. I will try connecting at some other spots, if doesn't work than this piece of crap is going back.

dharmeshdata take it back and get a full refund while you have a chance.
It is shiocking how many people go back and forth with Acer on this in the hopes of it being fixed.
Obviously they put in a bad memory chip. What is even scarier is that the people saying it was fixed show a 4gb memory chip, but the system was supposed to be sold with 6 gb memory. For those who got it replaced, do you have 6 gb?
It is also obvious when the repair is from a "kit". That basically means the company knows there is a problem and they have had so many repairs they have packaged all of the defective parts to be replaced together.
God Bless the Internet or we all would keep trying to get this fixed.
The model is great, but is it worth all of this aggravation? Obviously there is a reason Best Buy continues to keep it on sale. No chance anyone gets a working R7 at Best Buy. Give up for now! How many bad reports does anyone need?
I spent 3 days and this is the only laptop I have not been able to fix. And I do repairs for all my friends as well.
Obviously they will continue to sell defective units and tell people it is less then 5% when it is really 100% defective!
When the model with the pen comes out, let's hope they have learned from this nightmare!
And this is just the WIFI. other issues will crop up after use. They have got the cheap route for parts, if you get a year out of this machine before having to send it back you will be luckY!

njcurveball I think you're right, its easier to give this alptop back rather than dealing with issue. I just tried connecting to my office wifi network, my R7 is not even able to connect it. Although i am getting download speed of 13 mbps and upload of 11 on my mobile on same wifi.
I love this laptop except their major wifi issue. Which mahcine do you think is better yoga13 or xps12? If i give this back, i have to buy something else and i am very much inclined toward convertibles.
ACER PEOPLE- You suck bigtime.

There is no better convertible laptop out there
I tried them all
They all have issues and are made like cheap plastic junk
They have poor resolution
Crummy speakes
All kind of glitches
Cheap
Acer has the best product of itskind out there
Idecided to use aUSB adaptor until a fix comes
I have two of them They work great
I get at least 20 to 30 with the Dptor
without the adaptor I get zilch
The price is right to
Stop grieving and buy the adaptor
Its better the sending it all around the world
I am looking forward to the new R7
Then I will swap this one out
Other companies have these same issues andmore
Dont jump out of the frying pan into the fire
There is no better convertibleright now
