Re: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

Continued...

Got a brand new REPLACEMENT R7 with the same problem.  SNID 321.........

Now, I have to send this one in for service.  No more replacements.

I'm a little skeptical about any R7 working now.

Beyond frustrated.........inconvenienced yet again.

Re: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

You have to give Acer credit! They have convinced people that buying protection on a brand new laptop is a great thing. Which may be why Best Buy does not mind selling the bad units.

Most testing is done to ensure that things work right out of the box. Obviously Acer did not do that testing and now they have over 3 months of bad press and a large number of users who certainly will never recommend them.

They show no support and now it seems they give no replacement either. So you can buy a new one, then ship it back and hope it gets fixed. If not, ship it back and hope again.

It should be fixed they say. And if you believe it should then you will probably just sit home and should all over yourself!

If you buy an R7 after reading this thread then you need to contact me for some prime land on Jupiter.

Betreff: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

Today I received my R7 from reparation. Wifi is working as it should now :smileyhappy:

Is definitely the same device I sent them in, no new R7. (And SNID starts with 322...)

I'm from Germany. And I'm now very happy with the device :smileyhappy:

Changes:

KN.4GB07.008         SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.KIN

R7.KIT                   KIT.R7.REWORK

So the RAM has been exchanged and something was reworked.

And the OS was recovered...

With UPS it took all in all 7 working days.

Problem solved :smileyhappy:

Re: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

Just bought this laptop on Sat Aug 31st at Best Buy.  I have the same wifi problem as others.  You'd think they'd stop selling units with a known serious problem!  Also, the S key doesn't work - and this is suprisingly less annoying than the wifi problem.  I guess I'll have to make time to return it this week.  Hopefully they work out this problem in the Haswell version that was just announced.

Re: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

Back from travel to Holly, MI (very cool rennaisance faire). Got excellent signal at the Fairview Inn & Suites in Fenton. That is three for three times at hotels now with the replacement R7 working well. Now, back at home, I am several rooms away from my router and getting 24 to 36 Mbps and no problems surfing the net. I see questions about the SNIDs. My replacment one starts with 3200.
