njcurveball,
Did you talk to level 2 tech support? Is this your first R7?
I would go up a peg or two in tech support. It does take time.
I see that Windows 8 hides the big back up and restore (system image), but it can be done.

I had the same wifi problem as everyone. Last friday I contacted the Acer support in the Netherlands. They suggested to send my R7 for repair to them (see my post http://community.acer.com/t5/Notebooks-Netbooks/Po

My first Acer. I am not going to let it "take tme". I have 14 days to return the machine. If I cannot get it working by then, it will go back for a refund. I don't need a White Elephant going back and forth between Acer and me.

After recover system via Acer Recovery the wifi problem still exists. I've tried not to install windows 8 updates (as someone wrote on this forum) - same result ![]()

Dereko,
Your picture did not come through. Was the BIOS upgraded to 2.08? What does it mean they did a rework?
thanks for your help!

Thanks Krils.
The other poster mentioned memory being switched out. I have never heard of memory degrading the WIFI signal. That seems very strange.

bios update did not bring solution - wifi problem still exists

Thanks. It is now 8/22/2013 (at least it is in NJ). On 6/4/2013 the original poster stated the problem. I have copied that below, in case Acer has forgot it.
I have read through hundreds of posts. A few have the problem magically solved with a return from Acer. Hundreds do not.
PLEASE ACER get some priority on handling this issue. Admit your errors and let's fix it! Thanks!

After several phone calls to the Best Buy Geek Squad, Acer technical support and Verizon Fios (my internet provider), no one could provide an answer to the issue I have been experiencing with my new Aspire R7. The Acer tech support finally decided that we should send the notebook in to have it checked out because they had no answer.
The problem I have been experiencing is an extremely weak WIFI signal on this notebook unless I am 3 to 5 feet away from the WIFI router. I currently have 50/25 service which usually gives me around 25mbps to 30mbps downloads through WIFI on other devices. At 15 feet, with a straight line of site to the router I may get 2.5mbps. If I move to the location in our home where the notebook is used most, (approximately 25 feet from the router) the speed drops to .7mbps to 1.3mbps.
