Same problem here: WLAN of m Aspire R7-571G is very bad. My girlfriends cheap HP notebook has a much faster WLAN.Where I have a good connection with my Galaxy Nexus Android phone,I cannot open even the Google startpage on the R7.
Network adapter is Broadcom, notebook was bought from digitec, Switzerland.

I have the same wifi problem. Bought my computer 1 week ago. I contacted technical support yesterday (August 9 2013) and they had the same steps as always. Update the driver, reset the computer etc. None of this did anything. Maybe they should read this forum instead of wasting people's time. So now they want me to send it in. They say that they will pay for shipping. But after reading this forum, I have no confidence that they can fix it. I also use this computer for work and can't afford to send it away for 2 weeks. So what do you suggest? Just return it to best buy or does acer really have a fix?
update: I just sent a tip to Gizmodo (who reviewed this laptop back in May). Perhaps they'll do a follow up story on it.

The WiFi RAM issue is just word quibbling.
Here´s a picture of speed test on this R7 with external WiFi: http://s9.postimg.org/c6runcsa7/speedtest.jpg
It´s only connected to 802.11b/g (54 Mbit/s, 2.4 GHz) and not the n standard which teoretically should be faster.
That can only mean (to be conclusive) that either the internal broadcom WiFi adapter is malfunctioning - in which case the same device should be mailfunctioning also in other products than the R7 - or the WiFi transmission is being disturbed from interference. The WiFi signal is not being weakened, because the network reports fx fair or good signal strength.
So if the broadcom device is functioning ok in other products than the R7, it must be internal interference that disturbs the link quality. They have probably already tried installing another internal WiFi adapter.
Anyway this is the best travellers laptop for entertainment on the market today! With the worse kind of acer driver support ...

Someone earlier said that tested another internal wifi and results were the same as broadcom chipset...

Anyway remember to enable roaming so the adapter looks for the best signal.
And disable the internal device if you connect an external instead

Hi r4cdeleon!
This is good news for you!
Have you tried connecting to a different location in your house (assuming you're home)? My laptop connects just fine when I'm downstairs (where my router is) and can't connect while I'm at the second floor.
Thanks
