Someone from Tech Support walked me through that. Rebooted. Still slooooooooooooow. Called back and I was walked through disabling the power saver. Didn't work. They want me to send the unit back. I see from previous posts that doesn't work either. Has anyone tried their Facebook page?
Any updates? Frustrating...
UPDATE: I stayed on Tech Support chat long enough to get escalated to level 2 and then to Corporate Customer Care and will get a call in 1-2 business days. Will update more when I get the call.

Same problem: Poor or none WiFi connection. Hardware is Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 adapter.Driver: 11/03/2013; Version 10.0.0.234
Switched off Power savings.
(Open Network connections, Wi-Fi properties, Configure Qualcomm Atheros properties and selected Power management. Unmarked "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" So the adapter is always on.)
Now my WiFi connection is good.
Closed the R7 (hibernate) , opened it again and switched ON.
WiFi connection was not automatically recoverd. Manually connected and have a good connection now.
According to me it is a software issue.

Well, as I mentioned previoiusly, adding an external adapter solved the problem for me. Not an ideal solution, I know, but it cost me only 30 bucks, and my connection is pretty fast now. I also previously mentioned that I had the problem only on my home Verizon Fios network, not the Comcast network at work. Someone commented that it couldn't be the ISP, and I apologize for being unclear. I didn't mean the ISP itself, but the network the company techs set up in my home, including the router and its settings, vs. the one at work. I was (and am) wondering if there is a compatibility issue going on here.

Just got off the phone with some very nice people from ACER.
After talking about the connection and me being adamant about not sending in the unit, he said there may be an issue with the Verizon Router. It's old technology. Actiontec 802.11g. He highly recommended the 802.11n router technology that came out about 4-5 years ago.
It makes sense why Acer's not seeing this problem. They're not testing the R7 on old school routers.
What routers are people using??? I'm calling to see if I can get an upgraded "n" router from Verizon. Has anyone tried this?

EDIT: 802.11n issue is not the problem. I have this router. <_>

Yep, just called Verizon. I have the 802.11n router as well. Will be back on the phone with Acer on Monday.

Just got the R7 and I love it except that I noticed the wifi was very slow, after coming across the forum and this discussion, I decided to just follow your lead and buy an external adapter till Acer gets their act together. Thanks

This is the reply I got from Acer tech support,
"In order to resolve this issue, your system needs to be scheduled for repair. Component replacement costs associated with this repair, will be covered; aside from exceptions outlined within our limited warranty (includes damages caused by misuse, abuse, accidents, etc.). Examples of these include, cracked LCD, liquid spills etc."
I'd like to know what repair they'll do before I go through this hassle of sending the R7 back.
