Movie disc killed my laptop HELP

I have an aspire 5750--6887, about three months ago, I had my portable dvd player/burner connected via usb, and put a disc in to watch the disc, after just a few seconds, the machine completely shut down and since has done not a thing, it will not boot and shows no lights on the front bezel when it is plugged in to an AC power source. HELP please, this machine is pretty much brand new, the only thing it has ever been used for is to watch movies streamed via hdmi from the laptop to my flatscreen television. Can't even find a way to contact acer about this issue... HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPP

We would suggest contacting technical support in your region for further assistance with this issue.

I have tried calling, all I get are "Paid Support" lines, I do not wish to pay someone to tell me where to send my laptop to be fixed or to go through any trouble shooting steps over a phone, the machine is DEAD, will do NOTHING and all I need is an address of where I can send it for repairs, doesn't seem like Acer wants to stand behind their product, they make it so very difficult to contact them.

You can go to Acer main office or a technician to fix your issue.

That is what I am trying find out, where there is an Acer authorized service center or technichian. They want a person to pay just to get that information, I have been all over their website and EVERYTHING points back to the paid service and paid tech support areas NOTHING leads to any useful information. Can you tell me where I might an authorized service center or technichian, I am located in lakeland florida.

I provided a link for you in my previous post.

It is also in every post signature for any Acer Technician posting on the Community.

Here's the direct link to the page for USA:

My apologies, there was no link that appeared iny your previous post, and I just looked again thinking that I had missed it, but there is still no link that shows up on my end.

    Thank you for the information.

I have a similar problem I'll describe in a moment.

First I want to agree with you that Acer appears to have no interest in standing by their products.

Also, the link posted by the "technician" in one of your responses was http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/service.

I was simply working on my 5750 - not watching a movie, although I have watched via HBO Go & other similar sites, when my screen and all L.E.D.s went dark.  Fan stopped, everything shut down.

When power cable is plugged in I also get no L.E.D. illumnination that was normal for when cable is plugged in.

The 5750 was purchased less than 18 months ago.

Battery works in our other Acer.

Power cable works in our other Acer.

Electrical receptacle works fine with other devices.

I did get through to chat with Acer, however the solution offered for my "main board" problem is to pay $249.00 plus taxes plus one-way shipping.  They also said I could look to get it repaired locally at Best Buy or other similar places.  I bought the 5750 at Microcenter, where they also repair Acers.  I will check with them on the cost of repair - if it's the same I'll likely drink the Apple Kool-Aide and get one of them.

    Good luck.

    Left this out.

Unit will also no longer power up.  There are no signs of life.

    It is now a paperweight.

Yeah I finally got in touch with an actual person at Acer and unfortunately my unit is out of warranty so the only option they gave was to send it to an Acer repair facility which if I remember correctly would have cost me somewhere between 4 and 500 by the time it was all said and done and I paid 599.00 for the system and while its a very nice unit with excellent sound, it simply isn't worth sinking 4 to 500.00 bucks in when I can go buy a brand new one of newer manufacturing and from a company that actually stands behind their products and facilitates easier repairs. And while I have an Acer desktop model and another Acer laptop, rest assured I will not purchase any other Acer products when that machine, like I said cost me 600.00 and wasn't used a half a dozen times and is now a paperweight and Acer not only makes it nearly impossible to contact them without paying to talk to them about it, but the refuse to stand behind their product, which to me speaks volumes about the company and their business ethics....
