Re: I have a new Acer Iconia W510 tablet. I frequently lose audio sound and have to reboot. How to

[ Editado ]

After having this problem for a full week, I installed the driver package from the USA support page and it asked me to reboot, then it did a clovertrail firmware update. My sound has not gone out since doing this a full six days ago (fingers crossed). It says driver package 1.0.1 - 12/18/12. Just wanted to know if anyone else can confirm or dispute my claim.

Edit: Shortly after this post, and extensive use all day, I lost sound again. Im very frustrated by this and coupled with the touchpad issues, I might be returning it tomorrow.

Re: I have a new Acer Iconia W510 tablet. I frequently lose audio sound and have to reboot. How to

I called support today, supposedly this is a completely new issue that they are not aware of. So it is safe to say that they're not aware of their own forums.

I suggest everyone keeps calling support and pointing them to this thread until someone over there wakes up.

To provide an update on the sound issue. we have been informed that a package of new updates will be available soon.  This master installer package will have a BIOS update, Driver update and other firmware updates that will correct many issues that we've seen discussed on the community. Please continue to check your regional download and drivers page daily for this update.

We appreciate everyones effort and feedback of bringing these issues to our attention.

Re: I have a new Acer Iconia W510 tablet. I frequently lose audio sound and have to reboot. How to

Is this the driver package that is available now with bios 1.51 and drivers 2.04? Also are these packages the exact same? Meaning we only need to install one or the other? I've already sent mine in to support forthe touchpad issue and others, but I'm interested in knowing if this fixes those issues.

jordant2 ..good point ...I was thinking the same today...for the record i also tamed the issue by shutting off sleep mode. No sleep mode or going into lock screen stopped the not being able to connect at all or waiting to connect

Many of these driver issues appear to be related to the Connected Standby setup for Windows 8 32-bit. Only this OS currently supports Connected Standby.  This is a new low power state for many components in the system.  Acer and ther OEMs are running MS directed (my assumption) scripts to their OS installs to disable S3/S4 standby states on the OS for their Connected Standby systems and then configuring supported features for Connected Standby.

This is new.  We are unforttunately guinea pigs for this first release and will have to endure driver, firmware, and Windows update teethings pains from Intel and all of the other supporting OEMs and system builders such as Acer.
