How to adjust the mouse wheel of my USB mouse with Aspire V3-771G notebook running Windows 8?

The scroll wheel on my USB mouse jumped way too much when scrolled over long web page or text document and skipped content with the default setting. (EDIT: this behaviour is apparently a bug in Microsoft wireless mouse, possible to workaround by detaching the connector time to time).

Anyways, the scroll wheel should be adjustable in Windows 8, but when I try to search for the mouse wheel setting using the Windows setting search tool, it hands me a shortcut which opens a dialog consisting mostly Alps touchpad settings. For USB mouse it provides only the driver details, but no adjustments.

Could it be possible that the Alps driver somehow hides the dialog shown in this tutorial video?

You're asking about a Microsoft OS and an external Microsoft mouse.

Have you searched the Microsoft site for this information?

Any controls on the system pre-installed would be for the Acer shipped hardware.
