I recently upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. I was looking at the driver downloads for Windows 7 32-bit, when I noticed the BIOS tab. I downloaded it to look at the file contents and ran the program (with no real intention of flashing the BIOS). I did not click on Flash BIOS, but the program went through a BIOS compatibility check. I thought it was just routine before you commit to flashing the BIOS, but then the program stopped responding. I waited for it to start responding, but it did not, so after a fair time I closed the program.
Now my Aspire 6530G will not turn on. When I press the On button lights flash, the CD drive spins and the fan spins up for a second then it all goes off and starts again over and over, all the while with a completely blank screen.
After searching the Web and given the circumstances before this happened, I am 99% certain it is a BIOS fault/corruption.
Various websites state that Acer laptops can flash the BIOS "blind" from a USB stick by holding the fn+ESC keys and pressing the power button.
Please help by telling me exactly what I need to do this. I have tried multiple tutorials all over the Web, but they require a BIOS file that ends in .wph or.fd, but the BIOS file in the DOS folder of the Aspire 6530G BIOS download ends in .exe.
Thank you anyone who can help me.

You had to make the backup copy for blind flash and to prepare the usb stick before you tried to flash the bios

The topic says 'gpu bios flash' etc but you'll get the idea ![]()

Thanks for the reply, but I didn't think I was Flashing the BIOS, otherwise I would have backed it up.
What I really need to know is how to setup a USB stick to flash the BIOS with Fn+ESC at the moment of powering on the laptop, with the BIOS file downloaded from the Acer website. Lots of websites say it is possible with Aspire laptops, and give examples for different models, but none are available for Aspire 6530G. Everything I have tried has failed ![]()
