Changing email address for log in

Good evening.  The comments here look very interesting and hope that someone can help me with my problem.  I have an aspire v5 571 and really like it.  I have changed by e-mail address from talk21 to outlook and although I have updated my microsoft account login details, I don't know how to change the e-mail address for the login to my acer computer.

Without this I can't upgrade to Windows 8.1 and non of the apps will sync. because the passwords don't match.  Do I need to restore factory settings?

Hoping all you experts out there can help me (I am rubbish at anything to do with computers).

Thanking you all in advance.

You're asking how to change your email address for your Microsoft Account.

The best suggestion may be to create an alias to use with your exsiting Microsoft Account.

You will need to log in to your Microsoft Account on https://account.live.com/

From the Account Summary page, click on Add or change aliases.

You can associate additional email address with your Microsoft Account.

    For additional information about aliases:

    Hi Acer-Tommy

Thanks for the reply but I have already successfully amended my account details including the e-mail address for Microsoft Account, but when I log into my Acer computer my old e-mail address is still there on the login screen.

This is what I can't amend.  I have managed to update everythig else, and because my Microsoft account and Acer login do not match I cannot update Windows to 8.1.

    It's very frustrating.

You can reset the system and start over, using the proper Microsoft Account credentials.
